Genesis 44:16
And Judah said, “What shall we say to my lord? What shall we speak? Or how can we clear ourselves? God has found out the guilt of your servants; behold, we are my lord’s servants, both we and he also in whose hand the cup has been found.”
The Heart of True Repentance
Before Joseph revealed himself, he tested his brothers' hearts. Faced with Benjamin's accusation, they did not abandon him as they had Joseph years earlier. Instead, they acknowledged their guilt, stood together, and Judah even offered himself in Benjamin's place. Their response revealed genuine repentance.
True repentance is more than saying, "I'm sorry." It is taking responsibility for our wrongs, seeking to make things right, and turning away from sin. The same is true in our relationship with God. He desires hearts that are humble, honest, and willing to change.
Take Home:Genuine repentance is seen not only in our words but also in a changed heart and transformed actions.
Prayer:Father, give me a humble heart that is quick to repent, seek forgiveness, and walk in obedience to You. Amen.
