From Pit to Purpose - Choosing Forgiveness Over Bitterness
Genesis 45:4
So Joseph said to his brothers, “Come near to me, please.” And they came near. And he said, “I am your brother, Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt.
Choosing Forgiveness Over Bitterness
Forgiveness is one of the hardest choices we can make. When we are hurt, we often feel justified in holding on to bitterness. Yet Joseph chose a different path. Instead of repaying evil for evil, he embraced the very brothers who had betrayed him. He recognised that although they meant it for evil, God had used it for good.
Is there someone you are struggling to forgive today? Ask Jesus to forgive that person through you. Forgiveness does not excuse the wrong, but it frees your heart from the prison of bitterness and opens the door to healing and restoration.
Take Home: Forgiveness is not a sign of weakness; it is evidence that God's grace is at work in your heart.
Prayer: Father, give me the grace to forgive those who have hurt me. Free my heart from bitterness and help me to reflect the forgiveness You have shown me in Christ. Amen.
